RAF Waddington 26-04-06

Towards the end of April a number of German Air Force and Royal Air Force Tornados deployed to RAF Waddington to participate in exercise Saxon Shield. Some of the RAF jets carried the Brimstone anti armour weapon and Alarm anti radar missiles, which can be seen on a number of the shots. The aircraft undertook missions over the Spadeadam range.

The weather didn't exactly play ball and grey aircraft in grey skies are never going to look amazing. However, Waddington does offer some good photgraphic opportunites and is so rarely used these days by frontliners, so it was always going to be worth a look. Geoff H.
